Cignpost | DP World Tour | The Story So Far

In Summer 2020, the world was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic​.

All sport had been at a halt for 4 months and elite sports organisations were looking at how they could return to competition safely.​

Cignpost supported the DP World Tour in returning to competition. ​

Creating 'safe bubbles' across the world in 21 unique countries at 83 tournaments and providing close to 50,000 tests in the process.

A New Challenge

Having delivered a point-of-care health solution to the Tour's players and staff that got them back to the course, we worked with the Tour's Chief Medical Officer, ​Dr Andrew Murray, to develop a new suite of services that instead kept the players on the course by protecting their health and performance through health screening.​

In July 2022, Cignpost was announced as the Official Health Diagnostics and Screening Partner of the DP World Tour and a Founding Member of the European Tour Health & Performance Institute.​

We now provide broader healthcare support to the Tour's players, caddies and critical support staff, including heart health assessments and skin cancer screening via our team of on-site dermatologists.

DIFFICULTY ACCESSING GP SERVICES​

With much of their time spent travelling to and from tournaments across ​
the world, golfers often find it difficult to see a GP when they need to.​

EXTENSIVE EXPOSURE TO SUN​

Spending so much time outside while on tour can have an intense ​
effect on the skin. ​

ELITE PERFORMANCE​

For all athletes, their body is their livelihood. Any health issues that affect their ability to perform on the golf course has consequences for their career. 

 

 

Golf professionals face a number of health challenges when competing across the world as part of the DP World Tour. 

We caught up with 4x tournament winner, Stephen Gallacher to find out why his health is so important to ensuring he performs when on the course.

Our Solutions

Heart Health Assessment 

Assessment delivered on-site by Cignpost trained healthcare practitioners using the following health markers:​

  • Baseline ​Medical History /​QRISK3​

  • Blood Pressure, Pulse, H/W, BMI, Waist Measurement ​

  • FEV1 Lung Age ​

  • Blood Glucose, ​Lipids, Cholesterol, Ferritin, ​Full Blood Count, ​Vit D, Cortisol ​

  • Two Lead ECG ​

  • HbA1c

Skin Screening​

Cignpost have partnered with two of the UK’s leading dermatologists who provide full body examinations for players & caddies who have any areas of skin they are concerned about. Dermatologists can identify and treat more than 3,000 conditions.​

Here’s a guide to self-examining your own skin:

Torso Front​- Inspect neck, chest and torso, especially important to check under arms sides as these areas are often missed.

Arms​- Inspect arms, underarms, shoulders, hands and between fingers and under nails​.

Head- Examine entire face (lips, nose, sides of ears) and scalp.​

Torso (Back)​- Using two mirrors to check back, shoulders, neck and anything else not visible from the front.​

Lower Body​ Scan of legs (front & Back). Check the tops ​and soles of your feet and between your toes. ​

How We Delivered It

We deployed the Cignpost Health Diagnostics Centres to the DP World Tour's iconic golf courses. Players, caddies and critical support staff could access our and services ​on-site health consultation without ​disruption to their schedules. ​
