Through our partners, Healix Health Services, members have access to professionally trained case managers handling medical cases from taking the first call from a patient right through to settlement of the final invoice.

Healix also have a proactive nurse-managed approach to more complex claims. Where detailed case management is required, Healix nurse case managers can provide a full micro-management service, ensuring that the appropriate medical care pathway is always taken, through their clinically governed bespoke medical provider network, without any delays in authorisation.

Medical underwriting flexibility


Full Medical Underwriting

When the member joins the scheme, they will be asked to complete a medical history questionnaire and any pre-existing medical conditions will be assessed for cover. As a result, some conditions may be listed as personal exclusions.

Moratorium

Although a member doesn’t need to declare their previous medical history when they join the scheme, they will need to be symptom free for a number of years before they can claim for a pre-existing condition. This moratorium is 5:2(+2). This means that any medical condition which they had in the 5 years (10 years in respect of cancer) before joining will be excluded for a continuous period of 2 years after the start date of the cover, but will become eligible for cover after this time.

If the condition re-occurs at any time during the first 2 years, then the moratorium period is not satisfied and they will only be eligible for cover after there has been a further continuous period of two years when they are symptom free.

Continuous Personal Medical Exclusions (CPME Switch)

When joining, we may agree to provide cover on the same underwriting basis as the member’s previous insurer. If they have personal medical exclusions applied, we will transfer these to the new insurance scheme with us.

The member will be required to answer some additional medical history questions which will be assessed and they will be notified of any additional exclusions or restrictions to their cover.
